When’s the last time you bought flowers… for yourself?
I used to buy flowers for myself from time to time when I was first teaching and making what I considered a “real” paycheck. It was a luxurious treat to myself; I knew they would die and I would throw them away, but fresh flowers do something amazing to a room, to our mood.
I’m sure you can think of occasions for which flowers seem appropriate: to celebrate someone’s birthday, to say I’m sorry for a loss, to surprise someone who might need a little pick-me-up.
But when are they spiritually necessary to your soul?![flowers[4]](http://allthingsgirl.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/flowers4-300x200.jpg)
This time of year can be a little dreary, and even if we are lucky to enjoy the beauty of snow, we are often lacking color in our lives during the winter, especially after the glitter of the holidays gets packed away and we settle into a new year with new goals and responsibilities. I invite you to think of your own happiness as a perfectly appropriate reason to pick up a little bouquet the next time you are at the store or could just use a little beauty in a small corner of your life.
Flowers for me. Just because.
Heck yes, I deserve them. Don’t you?

I bought flowers for myself a day after Valentine’s day last year. It’s funny how when a woman buys flowers for herself everyone wants to feel sorry for her. I bought them because they reminded me of my grandmother who passed away. She had a peach rose bush. I hadn’t seenpeach roses since the last time I visited her. Fresh flowers do add something to a room.
I was at the grocery store today and saw a lady come out to her car in the pouring rain carrying this bouquet of vibrantly colored flowers! They looked so beautiful, I bought one for myself. You’re absolutely right – they’ve made me smile every time I looked at them since I got home.
Brandi, I completely agree. Flowers have a way of lifting one’s spirits and bringing a vibrancy to a room. I like picking mine up at Trader Joe’s – they are affordable and I can grab them with the weekly shopping.
