The ATG Gift Guide: For the Foodie in Your Life

My husband always tells me that I am hard to shop for. How can it be difficult to find a gift me? I am insanely passionate about bacon. Chocolate is my weakness. I practically live in my kitchen. Based on those general observations about me, the hubby should be able to come up with a good gift idea. If he is still drawing up a blank, here’s a small wishlist for this holiday season.

  • Konro Charcoal BBQ Grill (Gilt Taste / $122.95) – When I was pregnant, I had this recurring dream of grilling food in our bedroom. It was a sweet setup with the Weber Grill sitting right next to me where a nightstand would usually be. Alas, it was nothing but a weird hormonal pregnancy dream. Imagine my surprise when I discovered this tabletop grill. The possibility of grilling right in front of my plate when we don’t feel like lighting up the grill has brought my dream to a reality. Yakitori, here I come.
  • The Delectable Kaleidoscope of Candy Bars Print(Pop Chart Lab / $15) – I admit that I am a chocolate hoarder. I will hide bars of chocolate from my seven year old son so I can secretly indulge in a whole bar of European chocolate without sharing. I even discovered the husband’s secret stash of HoHo’s in the freezer. Then proceeded to eat the very last one. I was found guilty of this dubious act of indulgence when he craved a frozen HoHo a few months later only to discover there were none left for him. This print is only fitting of my obsession with chocolate. I will eat it in any form whether it has marshmallow or a caramel inside.
  • Chocolate Croissants, Set of 15 (Williams Sonoma / $39.95) – If I were to go to France, it wouldn’t be for the sights and historical landmarks. My motivation would be for the food. They have perfected the art of pastry making, especially their croissants. So to have something as close to what they create in the shops of Paris here in the states is a no-brainer. I would forever cherish this gift until I consume the last chocolate croissant in this set.
  • Bamboo Pig Cutting Board (Etsy.com / $39.00) – For anyone who is a lover of bacon, they should have a fine appreciation for swine. It is the belly of the pig that gives us the greasy, yet crispy, strips for breakfast. This cutting board is the perfect gift and will become the perfect shrine in my kitchen.

This holiday, I hope my hubby will discover that shopping for me is not a difficult task. Foodies in general are not hard to shop for. Even a cheese of the month membership will be greatly appreciated. There will be no Clark Griswold freak-out here.

My brother is a big foodie. and he absolutely loves bacon too. Last year for Christmas he got a shirt that read “i put bacon on my bacon”. It was really cute. I however wouldn’t not mind at all receiving those chocolate croissants. Those sound to die for. The price is not bad at all either.
